I listened to over half of the filibuster. Fascinating, indeed. Senator Rand Paul did something important. Perhaps Americans will once again regard the Constitution as vital and necessary. As Rand himself put it, “The Fifth Amendment is not optional.”
Still, he concluded the night’s affairs with a short discussion of Sen. Henry Clay, “The Great Compromiser,” and the importance of often “splitting the difference.” But there’s no compromise on the Fifth Amendment, he said. #StandWithRand, as the Twitterverse put it.
