Could the difference between “left” and “right” mainly be determined by which areas of life one tends to be suckered into holding simplistic, fairy-tale accounts of social causation?
- “Minimum wage regulations lift workers out of poverty” (no unemployment side-effects)
- “the best defense is a good offense” (no blowback)
- “banking regulation makes banks work better” (no unintended deflations)
- “prohibiting drug trafficking and use amongst adults saves our kids” (kids don’t form countercultures to get drugs)….
